ASBOs could be imposed on buy to let insurance policy holders

Anti-Social Behaviour Orders (ASBOs) could be imposed on Scottish buy to let insurance policy holders who rent out 'party flats' under plans to crackdown on nuisance stag and hen groups. If the crackdown were to go through then similar plans may be introduced throughout the UK.
Labour MSP Sarah Boyack, who represents Edinburgh's central district, has voiced her concerns recently on her website, suggesting the Scottish Government may need to adjust the law in order to make it easier for councils to control, and deal with anti-social pre-wedding revellers.
In her blog, Sarah explains that drunken stags and hens are out of control in the area, becoming a persistent source of annoyance for many local residents. However, existing laws make it very difficult to serve 'weekenders' with ASBOs.
Ms Boyack said: "Just last week, I spoke to constituents who had been kept up all night by horrendous screaming from a property in their block. It was such a noise, police and ambulance crews were required to attend the scene."
In a recent debate on the subject, communities' minister Alex Neil said he was "sympathetic" to affected residents and "grateful" for Ms Boyackâs input, adding that the government would seriously consider legislative change.
